EXPAND YOUR SUSHI PALLET WITH LIONFISH’S NIGIRI FLIGHTS
If you’ve ever tried a beer flight before then you know just how enlightening they can be. The opportunity to try and taste different beers or entirely new beers is a great way to expand your pallet and to learn a little more about what it is that you are drinking. Here at Lionfish, we love the idea of flights and of introducing our patrons to new things they may not have tried before. This is where we came up with the concept of Nigiri Flights. Think of it as a beer flight for sushi.
So, What Exactly is Nigiri?
Nigiri is a specific type of sushi that features raw fish pressed over a vinegared rice. While some people may think it looks similar to Sashimi, it is actually slightly different as Sashimi is a term used to describe slices of fresh fish or meat served over a bed of shredded daikon radish and served with or without rice.
Nigrini is a traditional type of Japanese sushi and while it is mostly raw, it can sometimes be seared or cooked.
How Do the Nigiri Flights Work?
When you order a Nigiri flight at Lionfish, you can enjoy four pieces of a specific type of Nigiri with the same protein. Each piece in your flight will have a different accoutrement or preparation method, so you can try different versions of a similar Nigiri and discover which ones you like best.
We have our Big Eye Tuna Flights, which is made with beautiful pink tuna. This flight features flavorful toppings such as Sherry Ponzu, Foie Gras, charred scallions, Finedeni and bone marrow butter.
If you prefer white fish, we have the Baja Hiramasa Flight. This flight has flavorful toppings such as Kumquar Marmalade and Soy glaze, Horseradish crème fraiche, caviar and Shiso-Green Onion Gremolata.
Then, finally we have a Salmon Flight for all of our salmon lovers. Made with New Zealand King Salmon, this flight has ingredients such as truffles, marinate Honshimeji mushrooms, Meyer Lemon Kosho, Trout Roe, Sake marinade and smoked salt.
Our expert sushi team will get to work creating these Nigiri pieces for you and stretching their creative muscles to deliver the best versions of Nigiri possible.
Of course, if the Nigiri flights get you in the mood for even more sushi, we have traditional sushi, specialty rolls and sashimi on our menu, so you are sure to find the perfect pieces to fill your appetite.
