New Year’s Eve is one of the most dazzling and festive celebrations of the year. Why not resolve to end the year in style and treat yourself to a truly unique dining experience? Close out 2019 deliciously, by enjoying an incredible meal at Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine! 

Our elegant Gaslamp Quarter restaurant in San Diego has been drawing attention and garnering praise since it opened. Our creative menu delights on a daily basis, but we’re really pulling out all the stops for New Year’s! 

On December 31, we’ll be offering a special prixe fixe menu designed and curated by James Beard Smart Catch Leader and Executive Chef Jose “JoJo” Ruiz.

NEW YEAR’S EVE AT LIONFISH

This year, the Pendry San Diego is the place to be for New Year’s Eve. Not only are there celebrations a-plenty on the premises like the incredible NYE party at Oxford Social Club, but our special prix fixe menu is really something special! 

This menu will be available for one night only, on Tuesday, December 31st from 5 p.m. until closing.

THE MENU

If you’ve ever visited Lionfish before, then you already know how skilled our kitchen staff is and how memorable our meals truly are.

Chef Jojo Ruiz is a culinary mastermind, marrying fusion cuisine with expert preparation and the freshest ingredients available in the So-Cal area. An emphasis on fresh, high quality and when possible, local ingredients makes all the difference in the finished flavor.

That’s all to say: our NYE menu is going to be a real showstopper!

Here’s what you can expect:

APPETIZERS

For the first course, you can choose from the following:

  • Carpaccio: This dish is perfect for seafood lovers, with seared tuna, lobster, uni and shiitake mushroom with whisky barrel ponzo. It’s served with grilled Japanese milk bread, a type of lightly sweet, fluffy bread. 
  • Truffle Chicken Karaage: Truffle gives this dish an incredibly unique umami flavor; it’s served with nori furikake and truffle aioli. 
  • Vegetable Pancake: Going veg? This is the perfect pick for you. It’s made with Japanese sweet potato, Napa cabbage, scallions and shaved truffles. 

ENTREES

When it comes to your entree, you’ve got a variety of choices to pick from, including:

  • Spicy Salt and Pepper Snapper Chow Mang
  • Suckling Porchetta
  • Asahi Black Braised Short Rib
  • Half Roasted Duck Duo
  • Vegetable Bento

Whether you want a taste of the sea, a delicious melange of vegetables, or decadent duck, we’ve got you covered!

DESSERT

You always hear “save room for dessert.” But this time we really mean it! At Lionfish, we treat dessert with just as much reverence as we do the rest of the menu. 

You’ll love our NYE special: a Matcha Cheesecake Semifreddo made with yuzu grape sorbet, miso brown butter cake and fresh grapes. 

PAIR IT WITH THE PERFECT DRINK 

While our NYE menu is a prix fixe, you have the ability to order drinks a la carte from our full bar menu. So what’ll it be?

Bubbles are a classic pick on NYE, and we’ve got plenty of options, from Veuve Clicquot to Moet & Chandon to Beau Joie. Whether it’s a classic champagne or brut rosé you’re looking for, we’ve got you covered! 

For wine lovers, we’ve got plenty of great reds, whites, and quite a bit of pink, too––with options available by the glass and by the bottle.

Sake, both still and sparkling, is a great choice with our Asian-inspired New Year’s menu, and we also have cocktails a-plenty. 

Perhaps you’ll try our “OTC — Over the Counter” cocktail, a heady mix of green tea infused Toki Japanese Whisky, Makers Mark, apple brandy, ginger, honey, and lemon…or maybe you’ll try “Grandpa’s Nightcap,” a mischievous mix of Jameson Black Barrel, St. George NOLA Coffee Liqueur, coconut, brown sugar, and nitro cold brew. 

Or say goodbye to 2019 with “The Final Rose,” a delicious rosy-hued concoction composed of Absolut Elyx, Lillet Rose, watermelon, ginger, lemon, and basil.
