A new year means new opportunities and experiences – and when you dine at Lionfish, you’ll quickly discover that our menu is full of choices and delicious meals for you to enjoy. As the best seafood restaurant in San Diego and a beloved fixture in the Gaslamp Quarter, any meal that you enjoy here will be top-quality, but we’ve selected five dishes that we think you’ll particularly enjoy. Whether you haven’t yet been to Lionfish or are looking to try something new in 2020, these five dishes off of our menu are ones that you definitely have to experience.

SPICY GRILLED OCTOPUS

If you haven’t yet tried our Spicy Grilled Octopus, you’re missing out. This dish is a favorite among diners, and for good reason. Fermented chile, crispy garlic, crispy potatoes, and cilantro aioli pack plenty of flavor and delicious spice, and did we mention that this dish is also gluten-free? Grilled, rather than fried, for a healthier option, it’s no wonder that this dish receives such rave reviews.

BUTTER-POACHED KING CRAB LEG

If you love crab, you’ll adore our Butter-Poached King Crab Leg. Topped with caviar, leeks, lemon, and roasted garlic butter, we’ve elevated the traditional crab leg to a delicacy. This dish is also gluten-free.

OYSTERS

When you order our daily selection of oysters, you’ll know right where your meal was caught. With East Coast, West Coast, and Baja oysters available, you can choose from a half-dozen or dozen served with white balsamic mignonette and lemon. Our oysters are fresh and sustainably sourced, delivered promptly from the ocean to your plate.

WHOLE STEAMED BAJA STRIPED SEABASS

Indulge in a delicious, filling meal with our Whole Steamed Baja Striped Seabass. This fish is beautifully complemented by melted leeks, spigarello broccolini, cilantro, and scallions, and a “Sucio” sauce enhances the natural flavor of the fish. This dish isn’t just delicious, but also makes for an impressive presentation, too.

BONE IN 30 OZ NATURAL RIB EYE

While Lionfish offers plenty of amazing seafood dishes, we also have some amazing “turf” entrees, too. Our Bone-in 30-ounce Natural Rib Eye is seared to perfection and served with smashed fingerling potatoes, horseradish, crispy onions, and plenty of LF1 Sauce for rich, indulgent flavors that you’re sure to love.

ADDITIONAL REASONS TO DINE AT LIONFISH

Lionfish doesn’t just offer delicious meals – we do it sustainably, too. We’re proud to hold the Surfrider Foundation’s “Ocean Friendly Restaurant” designation, which means we have met the foundation’s sustainability standards regarding the materials and packaging that we use.

Lionfish was also recognized as a 2019 James Beard Foundation Smart Catch Leader, which recognizes our focus on serving environmentally-responsibly sourced seafood. To earn this recognition, we had to score 80% on back-to-back assessments and underwent three assessments during a single calendar year. We also had to ensure that our menu didn’t include any endangered species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Thanks to our dedication to sustainably sourced seafood, you can dine at Lionfish knowing your dining choices are helping to preserve the oceans and their bounty for future generations. You’ll also know that every dish we offer is made from only the freshest ingredients, which is part of what makes our food taste so great. Because we use seasonal ingredients, our menu changes regularly, so plan to stop in frequently during 2020 to see what’s new and in season during your visit.
